Please telephone our parish administrator on 01274 606 377 with all enquiries about weddings. If you would like to book a wedding in one of our three churches: St Andrew's Oakenshaw, St Mary's Wyke and Holy Trinity Low Moor, we will arrange for you to meet with a clergy member to discuss the date you require and confirm that you are eligible.  These meetings can be arranged in the daytime or evening at one of the vicarages.

Frequently asked questions

Question:- Am I eligible to be married in the Parish Church?

One of you will need to qualify using one of the following five criteria:-

  1. One of you, or your parents, is resident in this parish, or on the electoral role, or

  2. One of you was baptised or prepared for confirmation in this parish, or

  3. One of you, or your parents, has at any time lived in this parish for 6 months or more, or

  4. One of you,  or your parents has attended one of our parish churches for 6 months, or

  5. One of your parents or grandparents was married in one of our parish churches.

Question:- Do I have to believe in God?

You’re welcome to marry in the Church of England whatever your beliefs, whether or not you are christened and regardless of whether you go to church or not. It’s your church, and we welcome you!

Question:-What if one of us is divorced?

We are permitted to remarry divorcees in many circumstances so it may be worth your while enquiring further

Question:- What will it cost?

The fees for a church wedding in this parish for 2012 are £537.50 including the hire of an organist, a verger, and a suggested voluntary contribution towards the church of £150.00.  Please contact the parish office on 01274 606 377 for full details. There are also some optional extras like 'pew end flowers' and bell ringing at two of our churches.  The fees are usually increased in line with inflation each year.

Question:- How do I find out more?

Please do arrange to see one of our clergy about your wedding - we shall be delighted to do all we can to help.

OR - we occasionally hold a weddings information hour when you can just turn up to enquire about weddings - contact Revd Chris Shedd for the next date if interested.
