Well you are on the right page - the church calls it Baptism, but there is another option too called 'Thanksgiving'.

If you are interested in a baptism then its a really good idea to visit church at least 2 or 3 times as a part of your enquiry process.  This is because baptism is largely about entry into your local church - and you wouldn't want to join any other organisation without visiting it beforehand!

At each church we have a couple of people who are trained so as to be able to answer most of the questions you might want to ask.  They are named below and when you visit do ask for them - they will be delighted to greet you.

In St Andrews, these are Sally or Trudy

In St Mary's these are Dawn or Christine

In Holy Trinity these are Terris, Hazel, Costas or Betty

Having visited church, or before if you wish, you are then invited to attend one of our Information Evenings which are held on the 2nd Tuesday in each month at 7:00.

These are run on the second Tuesday of every month and are designed to help you to be ready to book your Baptism or Thanksgiving Service.

At the Information Evening you will meet other families who are also asking about Christening and with the help of videos and other media we shall explain the difference between Baptism and Thanksgiving.

By the end of the hour, we ask to reflect on what is best for you and your child before visiting Church to book the date.

Once you have done this, then the clergy who will be baptising your child, or leading the service of Thanksgiving, will want to meet with you and will be touch by phone.

The Information Evenings are held at Holy Trinity Church, ParkHouse Road, Low Moor and start at 7:00 and finish by 8:00.  DO JUST COME ALONG although if you are able to let us know you are coming it is helpful!  Phone parish office 01274 606377
