Baptisms at the churches in South Bradford

Are you wanting to have your baby Christened?

Well you are on the right page - the church calls it Baptism,
but there is another option too called 'Thanksgiving'.

To Book a Baptism or Thanksgiving Service

If you are interested in a baptism then its a really good idea to visit church at least 2 or 3 times as a part of your enquiry process.  This is because Baptism is largely about entry into your local church
- and you wouldn't want to join any other organisation without visiting it beforehand!

At each church we have a couple of people who are trained so as to be able to answer most of the questions you might want to ask.  They are named below and when you visit do ask for them - they will be delighted to see you.

In St Andrews, these are Sally Griffin or Trudy Bamford

In St Mary's these are Christine Holmes or Dawn Moody

In Holy Trinity these are Anne Pyne or Dorothy Ellis

Having visited church, or before if you wish, you are then invited to attend one of our Information Evenings which are held on the 2nd Tuesday in each month (excluding August and December)
at 7:00pm.

Information evenings - every month

These are run on the second Tuesday of every month (excepting August and December) and are designed to help you to be ready to book your Baptism or Thanksgiving Service.

At the Information Evening you will meet other families who are also asking about Christening and with the help of videos and other media we shall explain the difference between Baptism and Thanksgiving.

By the end of the hour, we ask you to reflect on what is best for you and your child before visiting Church to book the date.

Once you have done this, then the clergy who will be Baptising your child, or leading the service of Thanksgiving, will want to meet with you and will be touch by phone.

The Information Evenings are held at Holy Trinity Church, Park House Road, Low Moor and start at 7:00pm (finish by 8:00pm).  DO JUST COME ALONG although if you are able to let us know you are coming it is helpful!  Phone one of the organisers, Christine (01274 676 014) or Dorothy (01274 679 048)

We have a simple leaflet about Baptism
which may be downloaded by clicking the link opposite

Prints on 2 sides of A4 Paper (Landscape) and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader - available as a free download here (Acrobat)
